The Benefits of Sidewall Belting for Efficient Material Handling

April 3, 2025

In industries where product containment is necessary, traditional conveyor systems often fall short. That’s where sidewall belting comes in. Designed to move materials where inclines or declines are critical while preventing spillage and rollback, Motion Conveyance Solutions’ sidewall belting provides a superior solution for mining, recycling, food processing, agriculture and manufacturing applications.

What Is Sidewall Belting?

Sidewall belting features corrugated sidewalls, allowing it to transport materials at angles up to 90 degrees. Unlike traditional flat belts, sidewall belts provide a single, continuous conveying solution—reducing material loss, increasing efficiency, and saving valuable floor space.

We offer heavy-duty DUROWALL™ and thermoplastic lightweight sidewall applications.

Sidewall Belting Options

Our custom-engineered sidewall belting solutions will fit your unique operational needs. Heavy-duty DUROWALL and thermoplastic lightweight belts provide:

Corrugated sidewalls in various heights and materials.
Cleated designs for optimized incline conveying.
Lightweight and heavyweight options for different industries.
Durable construction for long-lasting performance.

Key Benefits of Sidewall Belting

Maximized Space Efficiency

Sidewall belting eliminates the need for extensive conveyor layouts, allowing materials to be transported vertically or at steep angles within a compact footprint. This is especially beneficial in warehouses, factories and confined production spaces where floor space is limited.

Conveys materials at angles up to 90°
Reduces the number of transfer points
Optimizes available space for other operations
Increased Conveyor Efficiency and Throughput

Sidewall belting reduces material rollback, ensuring that all transported products reach their intended destination without loss. Cleats and sidewalls keep materials securely contained, preventing spillage and increasing throughput.

Handles higher volumes with minimal loss
Maintains consistent material flow
Prevents product rollback on steep inclines
Versatility Across Industries and Applications

Our sidewall belts handle a wide range of materials, from delicate food products to heavy-duty industrial goods. Depending on the application, sidewall belting can be customized with various cleat heights, belt widths and material compounds to meet specific operational needs.

Food-grade options for bakeries, dairies and food processing
Heavy-duty rubber belts for mining, cement and recycling
Oil-resistant and heat-resistant options for extreme environments
Improved Workplace Safety

For some industries, traditional conveyor systems with multiple transfer points create areas where materials can spill, posing safety hazards. Sidewall belting reduces the risk of material spillage and dust generation, improving overall workplace safety and reducing the likelihood of injuries.
